Friday, May 24th, 2019 at 5:58 am, officers responded to Days Inn, located in the 2100 block of N 11th Street in reference to reported gunshots. Officers found a deceased Hispanic male and a wrecked vehicle. Officers learned the victim was in the parking lot, about to leave for work, when a black male tried to rob the victim with a handgun. The two argued and the suspect shot the victim and took his truck. The suspect struck a vehicle in the parking lot and fled north bound. Responding officers located the stolen vehicle at St Helena and Gill. A male matching the suspect description was observed walking away from the truck. The suspect had a gun in his hand and ran from officers. The suspect threw the gun while fleeing and officers caught him near Leight and St Helena. The suspect was identified as De’marcus Micah Williams, a 19 year old Port Arthur resident.
Williams was transported to the Beaumont Police Department to speak with investigators.
The deceased male has been identified as Jose Manuel Valles-Santos, a 27 year old Houston man.
De’marcus was arrested for Capital Murder.
