Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to a double stabbing at a north Beaumont home.

At about 11:24 p.m., Patrol Officers responded to multiple 911 calls from a home in the 4700 block of Abilene.  The callers told 911 Operators that an assault had occurred inside the house.  When officers arrived, they found a 34-year-old Beaumont man standing outside the house with a knife.  The man refused to comply with orders from the officers and stabbed himself once in the neck. Officers were then able to take him into custody.

Officers checked the house and found a 37-year-old female resident and her 32-year-old husband suffering from multiple lacerations and puncture wounds.  Beaumont EMS responded and transported all three to St. Elizabeth ER for treatment.

At this early point in the investigation, Detectives have determined that the 34 year old found outside with the knife, had stabbed the two residents.  Detectives believe that there may have been some type of altercation between the three earlier in the day.  Some time had passed, and the suspect, who does not live in the house, went to the house with the intention of assaulting the two residents.

At the time of this press release, the suspect is in police custody at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.  He is recovering from non-life threatening injuries and upon his discharge, officers will book him into the county jail on two counts of aggravated assault.

The two residents are also recovering at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.  Hospital staff listed the wife in stable condition in the intensive care unit.   Hospital staff listed the husband in serious condition.  He is also in the intensive care unit.
