Good Morning,

I just wanted to take a moment to reach out to the local media and introduce myself. My name is Amalia Villarreal, but I go by Molly. I have been asked to serve as the Interim Water Utilities Director until a permanent director is hired. I have been the Water Utilities Engineer for nearly five years and I am a native of Southeast Texas. I graduated from Lamar University with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1997 and earned my Professional Engineer’s license in 2002. Prior to joining the City of Beaumont, I spent 13 years working for local consulting engineering firms focused primarily on land development projects. I currently serve as the State Board Representative for the Sabine Chapter of the Texas Society of Civil Engineers (TSPE) and hold memberships in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Texas Water Utilities Association (TWUA), and the Sabine Neches Chiefs Association (SNCA). When not at work, I serve on the parish council of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

I realize I have some challenges to face and I am ready to speak with our citizens about recent concerns and upcoming projects. I have an “open door” policy and I will be attending neighborhood meetings to help discuss the plans we have in place to make Beaumont’s Water Utilities Department the best it can be.

I will be in City Council today and available to answer questions.
