The Miller Branch Library invites you on an art trip to Paris!
Walk through the halls of the Louvre and Musee d’Orsay and take a tour of Versailles with Dr. Julia Fischer, Lamar University Art History Professor. Enjoy sparkling wine (alcohol-free) and light refreshments as we appreciate the masterpieces including Leonardo’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s The Lacemaker, and Michelangelo’s Rebellious Slaves at the Louvre. Also explore some of the most famous nineteen’s century works in the world at the Musee d’Orsay, a former railway station, including Manet, Monet, Renoir, and Degas. Walk in the footsteps of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette – an enormous palace and elaborate gardens of Versailles.
Dr. Fischer holds a Ph. D in Art History from the Ohio Sate University and taught at universities in Georgia and Ohio before joining the Lamar University. The presentations are scheduled on April 17, 24, and May 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the library’s meeting room.
The library is located at 1605 Dowlen Road. For more information, please call the Miller Library at 409-866-9487.
