If you are a new resident of Beaumont, let us be the first to welcome you! We’re so glad you’re here and are confident you’ll make a great addition to our growing and thriving community. We can’t wait to get to know you, but before you start exploring, there are a few things you have to get squared away. When moving to a new area, there are many things to handle, but searching for answers shouldn’t be one of them! This list is designed to get you “up and running” quickly so you can focus on other things.

Water is Life

The City of Beaumont provides water service for all residential and commercial properties within the city limits. That means you will be billed directly by our Water Utilities department. To turn your water on, simply fill out the online form. This is where you set the date to start services, list all applicable persons on the account, pay the start-up fees ($100 deposit + $15 service fee), and upload all necessary documents like Drivers Licenses and Closing Papers. The whole process should only take about twenty minutes to complete if you have the necessary information on hand.

Pro tip: Have your Drivers License, Social Security Number, Closing Documents, and Payment Method ready before you begin!

Let there be LIGHT!

Electricity is also something you should get squared away before moving in to prevent any “dark” nights. Every house within city limits is serviced by Entergy Texas, which you can sign up for here. You’ll be able to select your service start date, fill out your account info, and get helpful tips on how to save energy in those hot Texas summers!

Don’t forget the Gas

Electricity will always be your primary energy source, but don’t forget about gas, too. Do a quick check to see if any of your appliances or utilities are gas-powered. Common ones to look out for are heating units, dryers, water heaters, and stoves. If you have any gas appliances, you’ll also need to set up services through CenterPoint Energy, which you can do here.

Trash Time

The City of Beaumont proudly offers full trash service for all city residents. This includes the weekly removal of all small and large debris. Your trash day pickup depends on your where you live, which you can find out by calling 409-842-1483 or 3-1-1. Each residence is given one green can, but you can apply for additional cans here and see the pricing if you need more here.

Compare Cable + Internet Providers

Several cable and internet providers service the City of Beaumont, so it will be up to you to determine your wants verses your needs and choose the company that best suites you, or assess if you can cut the cord completely. Be sure to do some comparative research as some

city areas may be serviced by providers that may not serve other regions.

Determine Your Jurisdiction

As a new resident of Beaumont, we strongly encourage you to get involved with our local government. On our city website, you can find out what ward you are in, who your current councilmember is, along with how to contact them. Council meetings are a great way to get up to speed on what’s going on in the city. Meetings are held weekly at City Hall, but you can also check out the archive or watch the live stream online.
