On Monday, September 14, 2015 at 1:59pm, Officers responded to 5720 College, GI Surplus, in reference to a live grenade that was in the glove compartment of a pick up truck. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a Beaumont man who said he was cleaning out his 75 year old uncle’s apartment and didn’t know what to do with a grenade his uncle got from a World War II Veteran. He decided it was “surplus” so he would bring it to GI Surplus.
Fire and ATF were called to the scene. ATF secured the device and took it back to their headquarters to be properly disposed of.
