On Thursday, January 01, at about 9:35 a.m., Patrol Officers responded to a house in the 2400 block of Linson to assist Beaumont EMS with a combative patient.
When Officers arrived, they found a 47-year-old Beaumont man who was incoherent and combative. He appeared to be under the influence of some type of illicit substance. Also at the house were a 51-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man who were unconscious. Officers were able to able bring the combative man under control so that Paramedics could treat him and the other two.
Officers spoke with other people in the house who said that the three ill people had been up all night smoking synthetic marijuana. We have experienced a recent increase locally in the number of people who have required immediate medical attention because of overdosing on synthetic marijuana.
At the time of this release, doctors were treating the 22-year-old man at Baptist ER. Doctors listed him in stable condition. The 51-year-old woman was being treated at St. Elizabeth ER. She is listed in stable condition and is expected to be admitted. The 47-year-old man who was extremely combative, is being treated at St. Elizabeth.
