In the early morning hours on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:54 a.m. Beaumont Police Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle possibly casing the parking lot of the Comfort Suites located in the 5900 block of Walden Road. Officers arrived shortly afterwards and located a black male juvenile suspect exiting the window of a vehicle and quickly detained him. At this time, several suspects were seen exiting a stolen grey Volkswagen Jetta close by and fled on foot.
Officers arriving were able to capture one of the suspects near the Petro located at Walden and I-10 and the other suspect was tracked to the 3200 block of I-10 by a K-9 Officer where this suspect was also taken into custody. During the investigation, it was revealed that these suspects are from the Houston area and were here to burglarize as many vehicles as they could. There were several firearms located in the stolen Jetta and according to the Auto Theft Task Force it appears these suspects were searching particularly for guns.
We are urging the public to please not leave your guns inside your vehicle and if you must, please make sure it is out of sight and secured. There are many safe options for vehicles to make sure your weapon is secure.
The Beaumont Police Department would like to say thanks to the citizen who called in the suspicious vehicle which led officers to capturing these criminals. This is a good example of the community and police working together.
The suspects were identified as:
Suspect # 1: B/M Juvenile, from Houston
Suspect # 2: Marcus Shamane Mclemore, age 18 from Houston
Suspect # 3: Zachary Kevondrick Mcconico, age 18 from Houston
All three suspects are being charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Auto Burglary, and Evading. The juvenile suspect was transported to the juvenile facility while the two adult suspects were transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
