The City of Beaumont Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor and plan for a dangerous storm that has potential to impact our area. Hurricane Delta is forecasted to make landfall near Grand Chenier, Louisiana as a Category 2 Hurricane, but that is still subject to change. We must plan for worst case scenarios. Mayor Ames has issued a Disaster Declaration that will go into effect at 12:01 A.M., Friday, October 9th, 2020 for the City of Beaumont. All non-essential city facilities will be closed Friday, October 9, 2020. We ask that all citizens be prepared for tropical storm or hurricane force winds. This is a fast moving storm and is forecasted to bring between 2 to 6 inches of rain to Jefferson County. The winds are expected to pick up around 2:00 A.M. Friday morning and be out of our area by Friday evening. Plan to stay off the roads and indoors until the dangerous weather conditions pass. Please check your property for items that may fly away and cause hazards such as lawn furniture, Halloween decorations and trash cans. Monitor vetted media sources for weather updates or follow the City of Beaumont Texas Office of Emergency Management Facebook page.
