Updated COVID-19 Booster Shot Now Available for FREE at Beaumont Public Health

The Beaumont Public Health Department is excited to announce they are now administering the Bivalent (updated) COVID booster shot. As of September 1, 2022, the CDC recommends getting the newly updated Pfizer-BioNTech boosters for people ages 12 years and older and from Moderna for people ages 18 years and older in order to help prevent the spread of some of some of the newer variants.

According to the CDC website, “Updated COVID-19 boosters add Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 spike protein components to the current vaccine composition, helping to restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination by targeting variants that are more transmissible and immune-evading.”

Please call 409-654-3627 to schedule an appointment Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:00 pm and bring your COVID vaccination record with you.

Eligibility:

  • Individuals 18 years of age and older are eligible for a single dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccinations or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Individuals 12 years of age or older are eligible for a single dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccinations or have received the most recent dose with any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.

Public Health Director Kenneth Coleman stated, “We are very excited to be able to offer the new booster to the citizens and keep the community safe.”
