Shortly after 3:00 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at 2270 Leight. When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting through the roof of the residence. The occupant had smelled smoke and when she realized there was a fire, she called 911 and was able to escape without injury before firefighters arrived. The fire caused extensive damage to the home. The fire appears to have been caused by a wood burning stove where the vent pipe was in contact with combustible materials. Red Cross was called to assist the occupant.
