At 1:00 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to 4265 Pershing Street. The homeowners there reported a tree limb had fallen, damaging their electrical service line, and there was smoke in the house. When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke in the house and heavier smoke discharging from the roof and eaves.
Firefighters had to make access into the attic where they found there was fire damage and active fire in one wall of the home. The fire was confined to the kitchen area of the home. The homeowners were able to escape without injury.
One firefighter was transported to Baptist Hospital by Beaumont EMS where he was treated and released for a heat related illness.
