At approximately 11:34 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at 4954 Highland Avenue. When firefighters arrived they found an apartment building with heavy smoke coming from one apartment. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and confine the fire to the kitchen of one apartment. No one was home in the apartment at the time of the fire. Other residents of the apartment complex worked together to call 911 to report the fire and evacuate the apartment complex before firefighters arrived. No one was injured in the fire. The fire appears to have been caused by a pot left on the stove. Only the occupant of the burned apartment was displaced even though three other apartments had some water damage.
