On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 6:00 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at Church’s Chicken, 2780 Washington Blvd. When firefighters arrived, they found the rear of the structure on fire with flames extending up to the roof. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and extinguish the fire. There was extensive fire damage to the rear wall of the structure with heavy smoke and heat damage to the interior. The business was closed at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short in the main box at the rear of the structure. The business will be closed for an indefinite period of time.
