At approximately 1:37 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at 4770 Carnegie. When firefighters arrived, they found one room of a home on fire. The family was able escape without injury before firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and confine the fire to one room. The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short. Red Cross was called to assist the family.

Then at 1:50 AM, another structure fire was reported at 3040 Gulf Street. When firefighters arrived on that scene they found a home heavily involved with fire. The occupant was able to escape before firefighters arrived but was burned. The 40 year old female was treated on scene by Beaumont EMS and transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The victim had 2nd degree burns over approximately 15 percent of her body. The home was heavily damaged by the fire and the cause is under investigation.
