On behalf of the families of Officer Sheena Yarbrough Powell, Officer Gabriel Fells and Chief James Singletary, the Beaumont Police Department would like to send out heartfelt thanks to the citizens of Beaumont and Southeast Texas. The tremendous turnout and show of support along the funeral route from Broussard’s Mortuary to Calvary Baptist Church was unlike anything we have ever seen. The Officer’s families were overwhelmed with joy to see the men, women and children holding up signs of love and support. The American Flag and the thin blue line American Flag were prominently displayed along the procession route. It was a heartwarming sight to see all the citizens standing in the extreme heat to support Sheena and her family. The huge display of support, when there are American citizens violently protesting law enforcement, is truly an uplifting feeling and makes our Officers feel so much better about doing their job.
We would like to thank Jim Broussard’s staff at the Broussard Mortuary and Pastor Nathan Cothen’s staff from Calvary Baptist Church for providing the family of Sheena Yarbrough Powell with a beautiful service and tribute to her life.
Beaumont Fire Department, Beaumont EMS, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar Police Department, Beaumont Independent School District Officers and other first responders throughout Southeast Texas helped with the funeral procession, the service and helped answer calls so our officers could attend the funeral.
A large number of Officers from cities throughout Texas and Louisiana show up to support our Officers and Sheena’s family. We are truly blessed and proud to have so much love and support.
