Patrol Officers and Investigators from our Traffic Unit are currently on the scene of a fatal crash on Hwy 69 near Highland Avenue.
At about 11:08 pm, our 911 Communications Center received a call advising of a one-vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they found one person deceased at the scene.
At this early point in the investigation, it appears that the vehicle was westbound on Highway 69 when it left the roadway for some undetermined reason. The vehicle struck the cable barrier and flipped into the eastbound lanes of traffic.
Officers have had to close the eastbound lanes of traffic and are diverting motorist off the highway at the Highland Avenue Exit. The eastbound lanes of traffic will be closed for an undetermined amount of time while officers investigate the crash. We urge motorists to find alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
