Next Thursday, August 13, the 43rd class of the Tri-Agency Citizen’s Police Academy will start, and there are still seats available. Offered twice a year, this free 14 week course teaches the ins and outs of law enforcement, similar to an actual police academy. Classes are held on Thursday nights from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. All classes are taught by police officers, and will include topics such as criminal law, patrol tactics, traffic enforcement, crime scene investigation, SWAT, K-9, and basic firearms training.
The Tri-Agency Citizen’s Police Academy a joint endeavor of the Beaumont and Pt. Arthur Police, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Lamar Institute of Technology. There is no cost, and it is available to anyone 18 years old or older.
