The 42nd class of the Tri-Agency Citizen’s Police Academy will begin at the Beaumont Police Department on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 7:00PM.  This academy is free to anyone 18 or older who lives or works in Jefferson County, or surrounding areas.   It is provided by law enforcement agencies to increase public awareness and understanding of what their police officers do, think, and feel, and why they do what they do. Most classes are on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30PM,  for 14 weeks, while classes in tactical driving and a day at the shooting range will both be on Saturdays for total of 16 classes.   All course instructors are police officers with years of experience in their fields.   There will be classes in History, Criminal Investigations, Sex Crimes, Juvenile and Family Law, Use of Force, K-9, and SWAT. There are still openings, and anyone interested can apply on line at www.beaumontpd.com, and look for the “Community” button. Come Join us! You will learn a lot, and have a good time!
