Monday, July 18, 2016 at 7:00 P.M., three Hispanic males were walking on Avenue E near Gilbert when a beige 1998 Toyota Camry, pulled up next to them. The driver, Tory Stelly, a 21 year old Beaumont man, asked if they wanted to get some marijuana, where they were from, and what school they went to. The victims told him “no” and answered the questions. The passenger, Zachary Cortez, 26 year old Beaumont man, exited the vehicle. He was wearing a red bandanna, pointed a silver revolver at them, and demanded they give him everything they had. The driver demanded that they give up their cell phones. The victims cooperated and called for help as soon as the suspects left.
Officers in the area located the vehicle and stopped it in the 2500 block of Amarillo. They recovered all of the victim’s property and arrested Cortez and Stelly for 3 counts of Aggravated Robbery.
