This week, The City of Beaumont has received numerous calls from businesses on and near 11th Street who are concerned about the safety of their employees and property, with the upcoming 11th Street Cruise.

With the safety of our citizens and the general public in mind, The Beaumont Police Department will have Officers out enforcing traffic and safety laws at the 11th Street Cruise this Saturday, October 21, 2017.

The 11th Street Cruise is not a sanctioned event, meaning that no one person or organization is responsible for this event, therefore a permit has not been obtained. When events are planned and sanctioned by the City of Beaumont, many preparations are made to ensure the safety of those who attend. In recent years, the 11th Street Cruise has caused many traffic and safety concerns, including major damage to the roadway.

Last year, The Beaumont Police Department responded to over 30 calls for service generated from the 11th Street Cruise. These calls ranged from disturbances, wrecks, traffic problems, shots fired, DWIs, and robbery. One disturbance involved more than 30 individuals fighting behind a business. Another incident occurred when a reckless driver caused a crash, driving on a sidewalk and almost hitting a group of pedestrians.

The safety of our citizens is our number one priority. We encourage anyone who will be in the area of 11th Street Saturday evening to use extreme caution.
