Detectives have positively identified the man killed in an early morning fight with his younger brother.  The man was 45-year-old Lynell Whittington of Beaumont.

Whittington died following a fight with his brother in a house in the 2000 block of Ives.  Whittington and his brother were originally arguing about which television show to watch when Whittington grabbed a sharp object and cut his younger brother.  A fight ensued and Whittington was rendered unconscious during the fight.

ER physicians pronounced Whittington dead when he arrived at the St. Elizabeth ER.  His brother was treated for a laceration to his buttocks.  At this early stage of the investigation, Detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide.  They are awaiting results of the autopsy to be able to determine the exact cause of Whittington’s death.  The younger brother has not been charged at this point in the investigation.
