UPDATE-
BPD Detectives identified the juvenile suspect involved in the Kroger carjacking case. He was arrested Friday evening for an Aggravated Robbery- Directive to Apprehend.
The 15 year old suspect was on juvenile probation for a similar crime he committed earlier in the year.
Beaumont Police Investigating Aggravated Robbery- Kroger (3845 Phelan)
Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 5:23 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to Kroger, located at 3845 Phelan Blvd, in reference to an Auto Theft in progress. Callers told dispatch that a gray Nissan sedan had just been stolen from the gas pumps and was last seen traveling East on Phelan. Shortly after the initial call of the auto theft, a traffic accident involving the stolen vehicle was reported at the intersection of Calder and 4th Street, in which the driver fled the scene on foot. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was pumping gas into her vehicle when she was approached by a suspect who asked for a ride, to which the victim declined. The suspect then jumped inside the victim’s vehicle and fled. While the suspect was fleeing in the victim’s vehicle, the victim was knocked to the ground and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect crashed into a truck at Calder and 4th Street and then fled on foot. The driver of the truck was injured – non life threatening injuries.
