Beaumont Police Detectives have worked tirelessly investigating the June 7th Homicide of Yasin Jones at 5680 Concord. Early on in the investigation, it was discovered that there were several people present at the crime scene when the shooting occurred and Detectives found it suspicious that no calls were made to 911 to request medical help for Jones. Instead, Jones was driven to the hospital in a “friend’s” vehicle. Even though there were multiple witnesses to the crime, no witnesses came forward with information. Thanks to several tips from Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers, Detectives were able to identify witnesses and seek them out for additional information. At this point in the investigation, Detectives believe that Jones was accidentally shot by one of his “friends” who was in the apartment with him at the time of the shooting. It is believed that the people involved went to great lengths to cover up the incident. The investigation is still on-going and charges have not been filed yet, therefore the suspect’s name is not being released. The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office has been instrumental in assisting with the investigation.
